Scarlett's father, Karsten, was born in Denmark, while her mother Melanie comes from a Bronx-bred family of Polish descent. She has an older brother and sister and a twin brother. Scarlett is the only actor in the family, something she's wanted to be since she was three.
Scarlett's acting career began when she was eight in the off-Broadway production of Sophistry with Ethan Hawke. She has been in seven movies, the first was "North" (1994).
